PEACE CAMPAIGN NEWS CAPSULE DECEMBER 1969

The timeline below shows a collection of international newspaper stories covering the War Is Over! campaign which took place from December 1969 to January 1970.

These articles were originally gathered on behalf of John and Yoko who sought to gain an understanding to the media response and reactions to their campaign for peace. In a time before computers and Googling oneself, the only ways to access this kind of mass media response was to collect stories from one of the three main channels of communication; television, radio or newspapers.  The media reactions themselves vary greatly from positive to negative, revealing the levels of controversy and discourse surrounding the famed Lennon’s during possibly the peak of their media and public attention.
